"I think it's really important to sustain your dreams. Because a person without a dream will lose his or her will to live. Even if it's just a small dream, it means a lot to that person."
How many times have you set a goal but gave up before you reached it?
How many people have a list of new years resolutions at the beginning of the year but were unable to cross off many things on that list?
Why do we give up so easily?
But look at all the successful people, how come they didn't give up but were able to reach their goals?
What motivates them to become the best they can be?
When he was a little kid, Jaejoong wanted to own a supermarket. The reason was so he could eat all the yummy cookies.
But his real dream? The dream that he really wanted to have become a reality was to become a singer.
Many literature states that in order for you to reach your goals, it's good practice to make your goals known to people around you. So they can encourage you throughout the process.
However, it wasn't easy for Jaejoong to share his dreams classmates. Because in order to become a singer, he had one big obstacle to overcome. He was tone deaf.
His friends laughed at him for it. But it wasn't enough to stop him from pursuing his dreams. All the ridicules actually served to make him work harder towards his dreams. He practice harder on his own, in hopes that one day his work will pay off by becoming the singer that no one else thought he could be.
So for him, while people didn't believe him, and were certainly not cheering him on... This served as a fuel for him to do what he wants while proving everyone wrong.
There are quite a few instances in which people were able to do what was previously thought impossible just to prove to people that they were wrong. But in reality, it's not about proving people wrong, that's mostly just an added bonus. The ultimate goal for all these successful people was to realize the dream they truly believed in. They were able to unleash their passion.
Of course there are going to be lots of obstacles in the way. Depleted funds, stress, ridicule... And much much more. But we have to believe in our dreams, and our abilities to realize them. Find the passion within us to realize our full potentials. Don't give up when things get tough, because what you learn as you work hard to get through the tough times is the most rewarding part of the experience.
Sustain your dreams, and let your dreams become your will to live.
