“Think of hope the minute you feel miserable with your life. Take up the habit of finding joy in the smallest of things in life. The misery you feel now will be a strong foundation for your future and you will become someone with an invaluable life. Also, hold the hand of the person next to you. Don’t think that you’re the only one living in this world. Don’t grow your sorrow on your own and ask for help from the person next to you.”
As humans, it's almost in our nature to be greedy. We easily long for the things others have. Majority of our time are spend thinking about what we can't have instead of enjoying what we have.
It's weird how girls with straight hair curls their hair everyday, and the girls with curly hair go at long lengths to straighten their hair every morning. This is also a constant theme in movies as the poor hope to become rich, and rich people learn lessons of what they are missing out in a common lifestyle.
What would propel us to enjoy each moment of our lives? And for us to cherish all of the amazing memories throughout our lives that makes us who we are?
Hero was born as Han Jaejoon February 4th, 1986. He was a cute little boy with many happy pictures documenting his childhood. However, these pictures were only revealed later in his twenties.
When Jae was a young boy, his parents divorced. His mom at that time didn't have a stable income, so she didn't have have the financial ability to raise him. So she made the hard decision to give him up for adoption.
Jae then became Kim Jaejoong, the son his new family always wanted. In this family there are 8 girls and no boys at all. They welcomed him into the family with open arms. Everyone worked hard to protect him and keep him happy so they kept his adoption a secret from him. He grew up as an integral part of this family.
However, this event in his childhood explains why he is scared of being abandoned. Luckily, dark moments like this did not stop him from reaching his goals. It was just a part of who he is, like all the happy moments in his life he learned to cherish. Those moments served him well during the still darker times, cheering him up when he needed the encouragement.
In my senior year, I was chosen to participate in a retail marketing case competition. We found out about the competition 2 weeks after it started, and was tight on time in getting our presentation right. Our team of 4 worked hard to gather information and put together the company. We presented our ideas to our advisor and was lucky enough to be connected with an alumni at the university the competition is held who has won many case competition while getting this graduate degree.
We hurriedly put our presentation together and presented to this alumni. Our group was pretty proud of our presentation already as we know the hard work we put in getting it together in the short amount of time. The feedback we received surprised us. We were told we lacked clear direction in our presentation, and put in too much content that made us seem like we were all over the place. He gave us amazing advise and we took it gratefully which brought our presentation to a different level.
In the end, we took 4th place in the competition. The results were disappointing to us after the work we put in... But I learned so much throughout the entire process. The process of the competition showed me how to solve problems and really pushed me to improve my presentation skills.
Moments are like this are meant to be cherished, because they serve great importance in making us who we are today, and can be used to help us reach our success if we learn to use them in the correct manner.
